Viorel Florin Costea, also known as Dada VFC is a Dizzy bard, a wild dreamer, a clumsy alchemist, and a tenacious Dadaist, for sure!
He loves to make classical mixed media collages, starting with an elaborate sketch and working up to a final version on cardboard, plastic panel, or wood – making a complex composition with a lot of materials such as leather, (old) photos, pictures from books and magazines, metallic pieces, contours, colored pencils, and charcoal/chalk, etc. In general, he adds touches with paint, acrylic most of the time, but he uses all kinds of colored sprays, colored pencils, and permanent markers, founded pieces of burlap or linen, strings and cords, or ropes, artificial crystals, wooden and metallic balls, etc. He’s self-taught, and was/is very involved in the organization of an annual art camp in his town – dozens of professional artists from Romania and abroad – painters, sculptors, collage artists, graphic designers! Viorel Florin among them, he spent hours and hours with them each day, he learned thousands of very good hints, important details about different materials, lessons about lights and colors, etc. – so he has decided to experiment, to work hard, to improvise, as a true Dadaist! These are the chapters of his art career! As an artist, he thinks that what you will discover about him will help you understand the great importance of experiments with collages and mixed media in his life!
Everything he knows about the arts he has experimented on his own,! He has read lots of books because, of course, he is a passionate reader, he has studied lots of art albums, he doesn’t compromise! Viorel Florin Costea likes to think that all he does/has done is done with passion, warm feelings, and good thoughts about all the other passionate artists! So, you must know this, he doesn’t have any art degrees – everything he has done and everything he does, he does in his way! He is also an experienced user of CorelDraw and Corel Photo-Paint, and he designs logos and icons, all kinds of promotional stuff like business cards, banners, ads, etc., but also abstract digital compositions mixing imagination with fantasy!
Viorel Florin Costea lives in a small town in Romania called Moinesti (in the province of Moldavia), also known internationally as Dada City because it is home to a monumental monument dedicated to Tristan Tzara (who was born here in 1896) and to the Dada movement!
Dada City (Moinesti), in Romania, is a magical place – you must come here someday to see it with your own eyes! I cannot wait to meet you here so I look forward to such a wonderful event…
